My TableTennis
My Racket(TSP Birmingham'77)
fore-side(Butterfly SELVID)
back-side(YASAKA MARK-V)
- When I was a senior high-school student, my style of playing was
`forward swift attack' with penholder racket covered with warty rubber.
Almost all my playing style was made in this period. I wanted to change
my penholder racket to shake-hand, but whenever I tried, I failed.
I was not good at playing table tennis with shake-hand racket.
- My playing style was `All forehand attack/smash and No defense/block'.
In those days, I thought `Attack is the best method of defense', but
long time had passed since I realized that my principle was not always true.:-)
- When I was at university, I tried to master the technique `Backface Attack'.
`Backface Attack' means attack by using reverse-side of penholder racket
(Of course covered with rubber) without changing grip like shakehand racket.
This style was rare, so at the first time, I would get a point. But I
made poor progress in the technique, so I couldn't get a point for
the second time. My `Backface Attack' was only an exhibition. :)
- Now, I use the penholder racket with both-side soft rubber. But I can't hit top-spin
(drive/loop drive). Now I enjoy table tennis with ignoring victory or defeat.
